You meet them for the first time in two different games, but again, together in the 5th game, in Silmaria. This apothecary/healer combination is one you'd definitely want to befriend- not just for their medicine, but it's guaranteed they'll have a positive comment or kind word when you walk in the door.

When first the Hero meets Julanar, she is not in her true form. She is in the shape of a tree. The story goes back to when Julanar was a girl, and wanted to be a Healer. At that time, educated women were looked down apon, or taken advantage of. But still she persisted, until her dreams were reached. One day, however, a man in the desert told her that his brother was dying, and he need her help immediately. So she went, but it was a trap, all he wanted was her and her beauty. So she cried out, and a Djinni heard her, to transorm her into a tree. So there she stood for years, until the Hero helped her out in more ways than one. He gave her water, a hug, fresh earth, told her stories, and reminded her of her past. And then he told her her name. Months later, after the Hero had gone on, Salim arrived and stayed in the desert next to the tree, watering and talking to her. He woke up one day to find not a tree, but Julanar. And they've been together ever since.
